Everything Shower, here we come!
Everything showers have entered the gloowy chat.
Everyone talks about Everything Showers, but what is it? Basically, it's an extensive shower routine in which you really do everything (!). We're talking about a head-to-toe deep clean. But it's not just a shower - it's pure self care combined with masks, peelings and serums. Since the Everything Shower can take hours to complete (yes, really), it's definitely not an everyday thing. It is a special ritual in which you give your body the attention it deserves.
We've found that the ideal time for an everything shower is Sunday afternoon - or basically any time you want to take plenty of time for yourself. Of course, there is no single right way to go about an everything shower. Nevertheless, we have put together general step-by-step instructions for you here - you can of course adapt them to your needs.
Preparation before the shower:
- Prepare your bedroom : Before you even go to the bathroom, it's always a good idea to make sure you have a fresh, cozy outfit or robe ready to go after your shower. Bonus: The bed sheet is also freshly made. You'll thank yourself later.
- Hair treatment : Gently brush your hair and pay special attention to your ends with a little hair oil.
- Dry brushing : While your hair treatments work their magic, it's a good idea to use a dry brush to promote circulation. To do this, move the brush in circular movements from the outer points of your body closer and closer towards the heart.
- Create the right atmosphere : Not to be underestimated! Make sure the water is the perfect temperature, light your favorite candle, and choose a relaxing playlist. Now it can start!
In the shower:
- Body Scrub : Once you're actually in the shower, start exfoliating. Pay particular attention to rough areas such as elbows and knees. Did you walk a lot today or carry something heavy? Then now is the time to relax your muscles with a little massage.
- Shampoo : Rinse out your previous hair treatment and then shampoo your hair.
- Conditioner or hair mask : Apply one of these products from the middle of the hair lengths to the ends. A shower cap can help to develop the effect of the products.
- Cleanser : Gently massage your cleanser into your skin for about a minute to rid your skin of dirt, makeup and sunscreen.
- Shaving : If you are shaving your body hair, now is the time to do it.
- Rinse out : Pretty self-explanatory.
- Shower gel : Use a shower gel to ensure no excess product is left on your skin.
After the shower:
- Wrap yourself up : Pat yourself dry with a towel and slip into your clean robe or loungewear. Gently dry your hair and carefully wrap it in a towel (your hair is particularly sensitive when wet).
- Facial serum : Grab a nourishing facial serum and apply it to your face, neck and décolleté. We're a little biased, but the Balancing Facial Serum would just be the icing on the cake at this step.
- Moisturizer : Do the same with a moisturizer or facial oil. Treat yourself to a little facial massage with your hands or a Gua Sha.
- Hair treatment : Depending on your hair structure and what is good for your hair: Finish your hair care routine with a detangler, a leave-in conditioner and/or a hair serum.
- Body serum, oil or lotion: After your face and hair are taken care of, the body follows. Massage your body serum or lotion of your choice into your skin.
- Relax : That was a lot of work! Luckily, now it's time to snuggle up in the fresh sheets in your bedroom.
